May 27, 2008: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet will present a
recital in Houston including works by Albeniz, Bach, Bozza, Elgar, Gershwin,
Ligeti, Scarlatti, and Sibicky. 7 p.m. in the Alief Kerr High School Black
Box Theater.
May 18, 2008: Performing Robert Honstein's On the Softer Side for
baritone saxophone and piano at another installment of the Music for Spaces
recital series. Location/time TBA.
May 2-3, 2008: Playing Nick Sibicky's Life and Afterlife with the
Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet at the annual EARS, Eyes & Feet concerts,
held Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. in the B. Iden Payne Theatre on
the UT campus.
April 17-20, 2008: Traveling with the Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet
to Columbia, S.C. for the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial
Conference. I will be premiering On the Softer Side for baritone saxophone
and piano by Robert Honstein and the TPSQ will give a performance of Life
and Afterlife (2008) by Nick Sibicky.

April 7, 2008: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet will present a

March 20, 2008: Giving my doctoral lecture recital at 4:30 p.m. in
the University of Texas Recital Studio. I will discuss and perform examples
from my treatise, A Collection of Etudes Targeting Altissimo Passages in
Alto Saxophone Solo Literature.
March 14, 2008: Performing soprano saxophone duet Ars by Christian
Lauba with Sunil Gadgil at 2:30 p.m. in Bates Recital Hall at The University
of Texas. The concert will be presented as an installment of the
Austin-based Music for Spaces series, which "explores unusual venues and
transforms others to demystify art music with multi-genre sound, unlikely
collaborations, and inimitable live moments."
March 3, 2008: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet will present a
recital at Stephen F. Austin State University at 6 p.m. in the Music Recital
Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building.
Feb. 21, 2008: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet will premiere Life
and Afterlife on Nick Sibicky's doctoral composition recital. 8 p.m. in the
University of Texas Recital Studio.
Feb. 16, 2008: Playing soprano saxophone duet Ars by Christian Lauba
on Sunil Gadgil's master's degree recital, to be held at 2 p.m. in the
University of Texas Recital Studio.
Nov. 30, 2007: Performing Diversion by Bernhard Heiden with the
Indiana University Symphonic Band under the baton of maestro extraordinaire
(and former housemate) Richard Frey! It's a free performance at 2:30 p.m. in
the MAC 040 hall.
Nov. 7, 2007: Appearing in a recital by Tex Sax, the University of
Texas saxophone ensemble under the direction of Harvey Pittel. I'll be
playing with the Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet and appearing on a couple
pieces that reunite members from the recently-recorded Tex Sax album Next
Generation.
Oct. 30, 2007: Presenting the same program (as my DMA II recital) at
4:30 p.m. in the University of Texas Recital Studio.
Oct. 21, 2007: Presenting a solo recital with the assistance of
pianist Charlene Sutton at 8 p.m. in the Texas State University Recital
Hall. On the program are Diversion by Bernhard Heiden, selections from Studi
by Anthony Vazzana, The Garden of Love by Jacob ter Veldhuis, Jungle by
Christian Lauba, and Symphonic Rhapsody by John Anthony Lennon.
Sept. 14/15, 2007: Playing alto and bass saxophones in "Bernstein on
Broadway" with the San Antonio Symphony.
Aug. 29, 2007: Lots of concerts and projects are currently in the
planning stages. More concrete updates will come as soon as various dates
are finalized.
The new Tex Sax album, Next Generation, should be available in the next
month or so from Mark Records. Stay tuned for order information!
Summer 2007: It's a little bit of everything this summer! Traveling
to see family in Oregon, teaching at Longhorn Music Camp, going on tour to
Napa Valley with the UT Wind Ensemble, doing a little pre-dissertation
research, and getting ready to start my new position as saxophone lecturer
at Texas State University.
April 24, 2007: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet is playing Donal
Michalsky's Three Times Four on Djamel Mami's DMA chamber recital, 4 p.m. in
UT's Jessen Auditorium. Later that evening I'm filling in on alto for the
Thursday Morning Saxophone Quartet, which is performing Waterloo Dance Hall
at Robert Honstein's master's composition recital, 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Hall
in St. David's Episcopal Church.
April 19, 2007: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet is performing the
Desenclos Quatuor at a chamber music recital to be held at 5:30 p.m. in the
UT Recital Studio.
April 9-13, 2007: Taking my DMA comprehensive exams. Not much to see
here, but you're welcome to send good luck vibes!

April 4, 2007: Tex Sax presents a spring concert featuring the world
premiere of my composition Lucky Numbers, as well as my new arrangement of
J.S. Bach’s motet Der Geist hilft unsrer Schwachheit auf (BWV 226). The
program will also feature works by Drake Mabry, Jean Matitia, Florent
Schmitt, and Jacob ter Veldhuis, as well as performances by the AAH
Saxophone Quartet and the Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet. The fun begins at
8 p.m. in the UT Recital Studio!
February 17, 2007: It's Glen Campbell in a pops concert with the
Austin Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m. at the Riverbend Centre. I just might have
to glue some rhinestones to my bell!
January-February, 2007: Fresh off the UT Wind Ensemble's recording
sessions with John Corigliano and his Circus Maximus and Gazebo Dances, Tex
Sax is recording its second CD release! It will feature composers including
Bach, Grainger, Matitia, Puccini, Saint-Saëns, Weber, and more. Look for it
later this year!
Dec. 5, 2006: Busy week! The TPSQ presents a concert of works at 5
p.m. at Heartland Health Care Center in Austin.
Dec. 2, 2006: The TPSQ appears at the KUT Holiday Stroll on South
Congress Ave. in downtown Austin at 7 p.m.
Dec. 1, 2006: The Tipping Point Saxophone Quartet presents "Three
Times Four" by Donal Michalsky at the UT Chamber Music Recital in the School
of Music Recital Studio beginning at 5 p.m.

Sept. 26, 2006: Presenting a recital with pianist Charlene Sutton.
Works include Tomaso Albinoni's Concerto for Oboe in D minor (Op. 9/2),
William Bolcom's Lilith, John Anthony Lennon's Distances Within Me, and
Aaron Bramwell's Canciones Del Zócalo. The concert will be held at 8 p.m. in
the Recital Studio at The University of Texas at Austin; admission is free.
May 15, 2006: School's out! Will a summer wedding and practicing
prove to be mutually exclusive? Hopefully not! Also, there's a new clip in
the audio section of Lei Liang's wonderful Memories of Xiaoxiang. And for
people who love to plan ahead, my first DMA recital will be held on Tuesday,
Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. in the UT Recital Studio.
April 24, 2006: "Curses, Foible-d Again!"
Foibles is receiving another "UT" performance, but this time it's in
Tennessee rather than Texas! The concert will take place on the evening of
April 24 at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga under the direction
of saxophone instructor Clint Schmitt. Everyone in the area is encouraged to
attend!
Feb. 18, 2006: Playing tenor saxophone with the Austin Symphony on a
pops concert featuring The Spinners.
Feb. 17, 2006: The University of Texas Wind Ensemble under Jerry
Junkin will give a concert at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio, 5 p.m. in
the Lila Cockrell Center.
Dec. 20, 2005: Home for the holidays! I am presenting a free noon
recital at Riverside Community Church, 317 State St. in downtown Hood River,
Ore. The program will include works by Bach, Bozza, Britten, Debussy, Liang,
Weber, and others. Bring your lunch!

Nov. 9, 2005: Tex Sax, The University of Texas Saxophone Ensemble,
presents a free concert of works by Bach, Matitia, Poulenc, Romero, and
Vivaldi. The program begins at 8 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Studio
and will feature guest conductor John M. Watkins, as well as the world
premiere of my arrangement of a four-movement suite from Weber's Der
Freischütz.

Feb. 27, 2005: The UT Wind Ensemble takes the stage in Carnegie Hall
at 2 p.m. for the New York premiere of John Corigliano's Circus Maximus.
Feb. 22, 2005: Traveling to Sam Houston State University in
Huntsville, TX for a performance of Kindred's Austintasia at the SHSU
Contemporary Music Festival.
Feb. 16, 2005: The UT Wind Ensemble presents the world premiere of
John Corigliano's Circus Maximus at 8 p.m. in UT's Bass Concert Hall.
Feb. 11, 2005: The UT Wind Ensemble and John Corigliano will give a 1
p.m. clinic at the Texas Music Educator's Association Convention in San
Antonio.

Dec. 3, 2004: World premiere of Kyle Kindred's Austintasia, featuring
myself and Kyle (piano). The concert will be held at 8 p.m. in Bates Concert
Hall at the University of Texas. Kyle will also premiere his new piano
